The most wonderful route of Nepal
Sir Edmund Hillary Everest and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay
Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the best adventure trips in Nepal. At the same time, due to several ups and downs it is one of the most demanding treks. The trail had been very popular before the airport in Lukla was built. The first Mount Everest expedition by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Shepa in 1953 took their first steps on this trail. Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek starts after 6-7 hours of a scenic drive to Jiri.
Everyday life in the countryside of Nepal
Acclimatization before entering the trek
During this short drive you will be able to see an amazing mountain range, beautiful landscapes and many villages. When you take this trail to EBC, you will have more possibilities to explore the Buddhist culture and observe the daily lives of local villagers. The trail is less crowded until Phakding because many trekkers fly to Lukla where they start their trek to EBC. It is always better to ascend taking more time for acclimatizing to altitude and this trail offers such an option although it is physically demanding. This trip is suitable for travellers willing to live a real adventure.
