Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. It is alternatively known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Every year over 60,000 trekkers make this trip. With regard to the stunning view of the mountains, beautiful landscapes, rhododendron forests blooming in spring and Gurung villages, it is one of the nicest treks in Nepal and one of the most popular among trekkers.
A moderate trek around Nepal
Only 45-minute drive from Pokhara
The trek to Annapurna Base Camp starts after a 45-minute drive from Pokhara. The lowland trail leads along the Modi River through nice villages and rice fields. This trek can be a little bit challenging for beginners in connection with stone stairs going up and down but you will find it worth doing once beautiful sceneries are around you. Once you are in the Annapurna Base Camp, you can have the closest view of Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Bharaha Chuli (7647 m), South Annapurna (7219 m), Machhapuchhre (6997 m) and Singha Chuli (6501 m). Apart from this, a beautiful sunrise and a panoramic view of the mountain range from Poon Hill including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8172 m) make this trek even more attractive.

TREK ROUTE PLAN
Arrival in Kathmandu
(1350 m), pick up from the airport and transfer to hotel, welcome dinner in the evening (D)
The first day of Annapurna Base Camp trek trip begin with your flight landing in Kathmandu airport. You have to finish the immigration formalities for getting Nepal visa and head towards luggage receiving point and after luggage is being received than continue toward arrival hall exit where our airport representative will be waiting to receive you. Our representative will welcome you with season flower garland and then we drive to hotel, complete the official formalities and welcome dinner in the evening if it is in the plan
Drive to Pokhara
(850 m, 6-7 hrs) or fly to Pokhara (25 minutes) (B)
There is both possibility of drive and flight to get to Pokhara. Depending on your interest we plan the means of transport to Pokhara. The drive is scenic and beautiful as well to see the local villages, country side of Nepal and Annapurna Himalayas however some time we have to be prepared for big traffic can take more than 6-7 hours too. Getting to Pokhara by flight needs only 25 minutes and flight is scenic too with mountain views and landscapes. After reaching the Pokhara and you can take rest or take a short walk around this beautiful city of Nepal surrounded by mountains and lake.
Drive to Phedi
(1130 m, 45 minutes) and trek to Pothana (1890 m, 4-5 hrs) (B, L, D)
Now we are starting the journey of the trek to Annapurna Base Camp. We finished our drive in Phedi and start trek with the steep ascending trail to Dhampus village which will takes about 2-3 hours. Here we stop for lunch with Annapurna Himalayas view and afterward continue the trek to Pothana. The trail from Dhampus is mostly gradual ascending to Pothana through oak and rhododendron forest that take approximately another two hour to reach the destination of the day.
Trek to Landruk Village
(1565 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
This day first part of the trail to Deurali is gradual down and ups mostly through forest and after Deurali the trail goes steep down mostly all the way to Landruk . It is a nice village of Gurung tribes of people settlement and where you can see the typical Gurung culture too.
Trek to Chomrong
(2170 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
This day is slightly demanding day due to few steep ascending and descending. The trail till New Bridge is mostly descending however some short part has ascending too and from New Bridge mostly we have to trek all the way to Chomrong though steep ascending trail. Once we reached in Jhinu, we take a short lunch break and if some of you are interested to see the hot spring than we go to visit natural hot spring that is about 20 minutes of descending from Jhinu. It can take us about one and half hour to reach to Chomrong, where the nice view of South Annapurna, Himchuli and Machhapuchhre are waiting to welcome you.
Trek to Dobhan
(2600 m, 5-6h rs) (B, L, D)
The start of the day begin with steep descending to Chomrong Khola Bridge and then steep ascending to Upper Sinuwa. We will be walking though forests in most of the parts. We can see many Himalaya bamboo bushes on side of our trail. From Sinuwa to Bamboo the trail is gradual ascending and descending and it is the place where many trekkers stopped for lunch before heading to about an hour of steep ascending to Dovan.
Trek to Deurali
(3200 m, 4-5 hrs) (B, L, D)
Mostly trail to Deurali is gradual ascending up however some parts of the trail have short descending too. After we passed the Himalaya hotel we can see the big rock staying as cave on hill which is called Hinku cave and It is in the place about an hour before reaching to Deurali. This day we have to cross few small glacier water spring along our trail.
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
(4130 m, 4 hrs) (B, L, D)
The trail to Annapurna Base Camp is mostly gradual up from Deurali. It is the most important day of the whole trip and altitude can make us feel more demanding while we are walking. We will stop at Machhapuchhre Base Camp for lunch. The admiring view of Mt. Fishtail ( Machhapuchhre) will make you feel the worth of being there. From MBC to to Annapurna Base Camp it take about 2-3 hours. It is a lovely part of the trip. Once you reached the Annapurna Base Camp you can see the Annapurna Himalayas in 360 degree and nice glacier of Annapurna I
Trek to Sinuwa
(2360 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
We wake up early morning to see the sunrise over Annapurna Himalaya and after breakfast we start our way back to Sinuwa. This day our trail is mostly descending.
Trek to Tadapani
(2600 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
Today our trail has few ups and downs. The start of the day begin with the descending trail till Chomrong Khola and from there steep ascending to Chomrong Village. The trail is more gradual down and up till the next village Gurjung and from there steep descending to Kimrong Khole bridge and from here all the way steep up to Tadapani. Tadapani is one of the nice place for the view of Annpaurna South, Himchuli and Machhapuchhre mountains
Trek to Ghorepani
(2860 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
As it is said every uphill has downhill, today we have few descending and ascending. Out day begin with steep descending to the river that is about 45 minutes from Tadapani and from there steep ascending to Thulo Odar that takes about an hour and again gradual descending to Banthanti. After Banthanti most of the part of the trail is steep ascending till Deurali top and short descending will finally end our day to Ghorepani. We will be walking though rhododendron forests and in spring whole forest is colorful because of blooming red, pink and white rhododendron
Early morning hike to Poon Hill
(3210 m) to see the sunrise and a panoramic view of the mountain range and after breakfast trek to Tikhedhunga (1520 m, 5-6 hrs) (B, L, D)
This day we wake up early to see the sunrise and panoramic view of Himalayas from Poon Hill (3210 meter). Our 45 minutes walk take us to the one of the scenic point of Annapurna region trek from where we can see Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Tokuche peak (6920 m), Nilgiri South (6839 m), Baraha Sikha (7647 m), Annapurna I (8091 m),South Annapurna (7219 m), Himchuli (6434 m), Machhapuchhre (6997 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Annapurna II (7937), Lamjung Himal (6983 m), Manaslu (8156 m) and beautiful landscapes. Poon Hill is another most nice part of Annapurna Base Camp trek. After the sunrise time is over than we start our trek to Tikhedhunga which is mostly steep descending.
Trek to Nayapool
(1070 m, 4-5 hrs) and drive back to Pokhara (B, L)
Today we do not have any steep ascending and descending trail. Most of the part of the trail are gradual descending to Nayapool and though the motor road. From Nayapool we will drive back to Pokhara with our private transport having the memorable experience of Annapurna Base Camp trek which can be even the life time experience
Sightseeing in Pokhara,
visit to the Davis fall, Gupteshowor cave, Tibetan Refugee Camp and International mountain museum and free afternoon (B)
After the breakfast we begin our sightseeing tour in Pokhara. We will take you to the most popular places that you should not miss during your stay in Pokhara. While visiting Davis fall you can see the nice water fall that started from the water of Phewa Lake passing through the deep rocky gorge. After Davis fall we than begin our tour to Tibetan refugee camp which is the place where many refugee were staying during the crisis in Tibet in 1950 and now there is small carpet and blanket knitting industry run by the Tibetans. In the International mountain museum you can see the diverse culture of different ethnics group of people and about the international mountains and mountaineers. Those who have more time can visit to Peace Stupa and Sarangkot for sunrise. Pokhara its self is very peaceful and clean city of Nepal and for those who have few spare days can extend their stay for rest and relax.
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu (B)
Depending on the plan after breakfast we will plan the mode of transport to back to Kathmandu. As we mentioned before drive can take 6-7 hours though country side road and traffic can make the time even longer too for what we have to be prepared. If you do not want to spend long time on drive than we will arrange the flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Free time in Kathmandu you can spend on hanging around Thamel or visit the garden of dreams.
Sightseeing in Kathmandu,
visit to the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath (B)
Now your sightseeing tour in Kathmandu will give you difference experience than what you have experienced in trek. Mostly you will see the historical palaces built in 16-17 century that are listed in UNESCO world heritage site. It is an opportunity to see the ancient carving and archaeology facts of Nepal. These places are surrounded by Hindus and Buddhist monuments. It is definitely going to be interesting day!
in the Bhaktapaur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square (B)
The interesting and historical both cities Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Square have ancient palaces built with antique carving and many Hindus temples are staying surrounding. During your sightseeing here you can also see the typical Newari culture. There is a pottery square in Bhaktapur and we can see how the household clay pots are prepared.
