Nepalese Gosaikunda Lake
Spring flowering rhododendrons and Buddhist villages
Gosaikunda Lake is one of the sacred lakes of Nepal. Every year many pilgrimage tourists visit this lake because they believe that if they wash their bodies with water from this holy lake their sins will disappear and they will have good luck. The Gosaikunda Trek offers a panoramic view of the mountains and beautiful landscapes. The Gosaikunda Lake Trek starts from Kathmandu after forty five minutes of driving to Sundarijal.
Gosaikunda - the region of 108 lakes
The vast ranges of the Himalayas
From Sundarijal you will be walking through the Shivapuru National Park forests and villages. Even on the first day of the trek in Chisapani you can see a wide range of the Eastern and some of the Western Himalayas. It is also one of the nice sunrise and sunset viewpoints. It is not a very demanding trek although the day you reach Gosaikunda via Lauribina Pass (4610 m) can be a bit challenging if the weather is not nice and there is snow on the trail and you have no previous hiking experience. It is believed that there are one hundred and eight lakes around Gosaikunda. Trekkers can see a few of these lakes during this trip.
